“From Postcolonial to Post-Soviet: A Personal Journey is a reflective narrative tracing my experience as a Black French Muslim navigating life between France and Lithuania. Rooted in personal memory rather than theory, it explores how race, identity, and belonging are shaped by contrasting historical contexts: France’s postcolonial contradictions and Lithuania’s post-Soviet recovery. While France challenged my place through the lens of its colonial past, Lithuania reveals difference in unfamiliar, often subtle ways. This journey interrogates how my presence is perceived across borders, and how I reclaim voice, safety, and legitimacy in spaces that have not imagined me. “
